The LGBT+ Family Coalition proudly announces the arrival of Marie-Pier Boisvert as Executive Co-director. Favoring consultation as a driver of social change, Marie-Pier has been involved, working and representing 2SLGBTQ+ communities for several years now. She held the position of Executive Director at the Conseil Québécois LGBT, was co-founder of the ‘Fière la fête’ pride celebrations in Sherbrooke, sat on the board of ILGA North America and on the steering committee of EGIDES, the International LGBTQI Alliance of French-speaking countries. She was also part of the concertation table on diversity, inclusion and the fight against discrimination of the City of Montreal.

“It’s an honor for me to join the Coalition, which has done outstanding work for the rights of 2SLGBTQ+ families in Quebec over the past 25 years! Becoming a parent myself has made me even more sensitive to the social and legal challenges before us, and I especially hope to be up to the task.” – Marie-Pier Boisvert

During Marie-Pier’s 5 years at the helm of the Conseil québécois LGBT, she brought many issues concerning sexual and gender diversity to the attention of various institutions and levels of government. It is with enthusiasm that she will resume this role, this time to specifically assert the rights of 2SLGBTQ+ parents and future parents in Quebec.

“We are happy to welcome Marie-Pier as Executive Co-director. There is no doubt that 2SLGBTQ+ parents in Quebec and their children will benefit from the combined political intelligence of Marie-Pier and Mona [Executive Co-director and founder of the LGBT+ Family Coalition], as well as their complementary talents. » – Bianca Nugent and Philippe Nadon, Co-presidents of the Board of Directors.

For the LGBT+ Family Coalition, it is an immense privilege to grow its team and welcome among its ranks an experienced person when, for the first time in the organization’s 25 years of activities, the social climate is deteriorating for 2SLGBTQ+ people, particularly for trans and non-binary people.
