Privacy policy

The LGBT+ Family Coalition invites you to review its privacy policy to understand our practices regarding the collection and use of your personal information on this website.

1. Who does this policy apply to?

The rules described in this policy apply to you if we collect your personal information through technological means during our activities. For example, this policy applies if:

  • You browse our website;
  • You contact us via email;
  • You complete a form to become a member or make a donation.

Our Personal Information Management Policy provides more detailed information about our practices
for managing and protecting your personal information.

2. Personal information

When you subscribe to a service requiring registration, we may ask you to provide personal information.
This information will only be used for the purpose for which it was collected. If necessary, the Coalition
des familles LGBT+ will obtain your prior consent.

We collect and use certain information about you responsibly. When doing so, we comply with Law
25 on personal information protection, acting responsibly and in accordance with the objectives outlined
in the law.

We define “personal information” as any information that concerns you and allows you to be identified
directly or indirectly (e.g., by linking it to other information).
By sharing information about yourself—for instance, by completing a membership form—you provide
valuable data that helps us better understand your family and the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Québec.
Becoming a member also strengthens our political impact, enhancing our ability to advocate for rights
effectively.

We strive to keep your personal information accurate, complete, and up to date. Please inform us of any
changes by contacting us at [email protected].

3. Information collected and Situations of Collection

Certain information, such as your name, address, phone number, email address, full postal address, and
information about your interests, may be collected by the Coalition des familles LGBT+ for various purposes.

Providing this information is always under your control. However, some details may be required to assist
you, provide information, or offer a service. Under no circumstances will the names, email addresses, or
other contact details of our members be sold, traded, or distributed unless required by law.

3.1. No personal information collected on our website

The IP addresses of website visitors are not stored. Cookies are generated during each visit but are deleted once the session ends.

3.2. When you follow links to other sites

The Coalition des familles LGBT+ website contains hyperlinks to other sites. Information exchanged

you voluntarily share personal or confidential information via email or forms, we use it only to allow
our team members to respond to your message or fulfill your request. Electronic correspondence is
handled with the same confidentiality measures as written documents.

4. Use of cookies

information about them.

The LGBT+ Family Coalition website does not install permanent cookies on visitors’ computers.
However, temporary cookies are used to optimize certain website functionalities.

Overall, cookies help us deliver a better website experience by enabling us to identify useful or less
useful pages. A cookie does not grant us access to your computer or personal information beyond
the data you choose to share.

You can oppose or withdraw your consent regarding the use of personal information. Note,

We are committed to maintaining a high level of confidentiality by integrating the latest technological

We have established the roles and responsibilities of staff members throughout the entire cycle of
processing your personal information, from its collection to its destruction. These roles and
responsibilities are outlined in our Personal Information Management Policy, which we review regularly
to keep it up to date

6.2. Security Measures

We implement various measures to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized
access, including:

  • Physical access controls (e.g., locked premises);
  • Technological safeguards (e.g., firewalls, two-factor authentication);
  • Organizational measures (e.g., personal information management policy).

6.3. Data Retention and Destruction

We retain your information for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes outlined in this policy. Even
if you no longer have a connection with us, we retain your personal information for a certain period to
meet our legal obligations. For example, if you pay a membership fee or make a donation, we are
required to keep the necessary records and supporting documents for six years from the end of the last
tax year to which they relate. While we retain your information, we continue to protect it and ensure its
confidentiality.

We have implemented a retention schedule to clearly define the retention period for certain types of
